PROOF TESTER TRAINING WITH THE CFA DELIVERED BY WÜRTH

Würth UK was delighted to host another session of proof tester training in June 2022 on behalf of the Construction Fixing Association.
The training session aims to equip participants with the skills and techniques to successfully and confidently perform proof testing for safety critical structural fixings.
After reviewing the presentation material on how different anchors work and how proof testing need to be conducted, everyone at the session got hands on in Würth’s training room.

Participants learned how different anchors are installed and the implications for ensuring an effective and safe connection to the Hydrajaws pull-tester for subsequent proof testing.
Anchors tested included Würth's W-BS concrete screws, W-FAZ through bolts (including torque wrench setting) as well as W-ED drop in anchors (including use of the expander setting tool).
The objectives of the training session were:
• To understand the role of the CFA (of which Würth is a full member)
• To be aware of the associated standards and guidance available for proof testing
• To understand the working principles used by different types of anchors, including an understanding of the associated stresses induced into the base material.
• To understand the logic used for the proof testing of anchors; how to plan for testing and to ensure that it is conducted safely and efficiently on site.
• To understand how to report back to the client

After the practical session, the participants returned to the presentation room to complete an exam to test their understanding.
On successful completion of the test the CFA certified the participant as an “Approved Tester”.
Würth UK is looking forward to conducting further training sessions on behalf of the Construction Fixing Association in future.
